Reporting Bugs

We are currently in the process of switching to handling all our issues on the mate-desktop github page instead of Perberos’ page. The reason is simple: when Perberos is away none of the other developers can close tickets. This creates a bit of a mess.

Now, when you go to report a bug you must chose the correct github repo to issue the bug in. It’s pretty simple. If there’s a bug with mate-panel, then submit the issue on the mate-panel issue tracker.

Once we close these last few open bugs (yes it says 22, but we can’t close many that have been solved) we’ll no longer be monitoring Perberos’ issue tracker, so we ask that you refrain from opening new bugs there.

Hi

I would like to report a bug in Mate dektop. I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my machine and i installed the mate dektop on it. When i am trying to remove the virtual desktop applets from the task bar and then i am restarting my machine mt screen hangs at the ubuntu logo.

Can you please suggest on any soultion

I hope Ubuntu MOTU team will support MATE on 12.04 in repository as well. I had issues with MATE in 11.10 and somehow managed to solve it with the help of ubuntuforum members. Just one question, are you guys going to build Gnome 2.x UI over gnome 3.x codebase? I mean that is a good idea but not sure if you guys are forking it or starting it from scratch. Error:
Window manager warning: Window 0 in the display “: 0.0″ already has a window manager, try using the “– replace” to replace the active window manager.
This makes the system resources increase significantly.
A momentary solution is to add the Home Applications under the command: killall marco. This seems to work pretty well. But of course this is not the ideal solution.
Another thing, what is the file associations default applications MATE.
The modification of these files does not affect MATE:
/etc/gnome/defaults.list
usr/share/gnome/applications/defaults.list

Finally, I will say that I’m using MATE and love it.

Hey guys! Thank you so much for stepping up to the plate and defending the desktop environment! I’ve just installed MATE on my ThinkPad on top of Oneiric and it’s running like a champ. My ancient desktop is running Lucid with Gnome 2.x so I have a direct comparison. I’ve tweaked the theme a bit to my liking, and I’m going to give it a nice long test drive.

I’ll let you know if I find any bugs. The only one I’ve come across so far is that the power manager applet shows two batteries at the same percentage (I only have one). I’ve run into less bugs in the last half hour in MATE than I run into with Unity after a fresh install.

So yeah, just wanted to let you know, this is fabulous.

I miss some widgets from gnome2 that I was able to add to the menu bar as system monitor with net, memory, and processors indicators, I use now conky, but, SOUND switching does not work well.

I have an ATI HD4250, I use the HDMI monitor speakers and headphones, with the catalyst driver of course – HDMI does not work with open source video driver –

For switching from HDMI speakers to headphones I have to close session, go to Cinnamon, switch there the device, close session and go back to MATE.

Cinnamon and gnome shell, are improving with ATI, but still do not work well. That is why I use MATE as main desktop and ATI users will be a good share of MATE users for this reason.

Para empezar, felicidades por el proyecto, me encanta MATE.

Me gustaría comentar un error que me sucede al suspender el pc.

Si uso pm-suspend todo funciona bien, el pc entra en suspensión y se recupera normalmente.

Si uso el menú de mate para Suspender, el pc suspende, pero al iniciar de nuevo, no se muestran las X, solo se ve el cursor del ratón y parece que este interactua con las ventanas, pero no se ve nada, todo está negro.

I’m finding that even newly-installed Windows applications installed through Wine are not being added to the “Wine” sub-menu that used to exist in Gnome2. The sub-menu doesn’t even exist at all in Mate 1.2. So I wanted to see if this had already been reported, and add a new bug if it hadn’t
